What you can do with Guard
Catch a drop before it's public
Get alerted the moment boosts fall below your threshold — before members notice your vanity link is gone.
Use the grace period wisely
Discord gives you 72 hours after dropping below Level 3. Guard tells you the moment that clock starts.
Confirm you're safe again
A green recovery notice tells staff exactly when boosts are back above threshold — no need to check manually.
Keep a buffer, not a cliff
Set your threshold a few boosts above 14 so you're warned early, with time to act, not right at the edge.
Get warned the moment boosts drop
Guard watches your server's Boost count continuously. The instant it falls below the threshold you set, an alert lands in your staff channel — no polling, no manual checks.
- Set your own threshold with /guard threshold
- Alerts post in seconds, in the channel you chose
- Shows your current count and how far below threshold you are
Know exactly when you're safe again
Buy back boosts or ask your community to re-boost, and Guard confirms the moment your count clears the threshold again — a clear green signal instead of guessing.
- Recovery notice posts as soon as you're back above threshold
- Confirms your Level 3 status and vanity URL are secure
- No need to check Server Settings manually
Set up in three commands
Add Guard
Invite the bot with basic read/write permissions — no admin access needed.
Run /guard threshold
Set the Boost count that should trigger an alert, e.g. /guard threshold: 16.
Watch your staff channel
Guard posts a drop alert or recovery notice there automatically, from then on.
Setup & Configuration
Setting up Guard takes less than a minute. Everything is handled via native Discord slash commands.
- Invite the bot: Add Ironstone Guard to your server with basic read/write permissions.
- Set the threshold: Use
/guard threshold: 16to start monitoring. We recommend setting a threshold slightly above 14 to give yourself an early warning buffer. - Choose alert channel: The bot will output alerts in the channel where the command was run, so make sure it is a private staff channel.
To view your active configuration, use /guard-status. To stop monitoring, use /guard-stop.
Commands
Guard is controlled with three slash commands.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/guard threshold:<number> | Start monitoring and set the Boost count that triggers an alert. |
/guard-status | View your current threshold and Boost count. |
/guard-stop | Stop monitoring in this server. |
Choosing a safety threshold
A threshold above 14 warns you before your Level 3 perks are actually at risk. Maintaining that higher Boost count is highly recommended for valuable vanity URLs (e.g. discord.gg/yourbrand).
| Threshold | When to use it |
|---|---|
| 14 Boosts | Default. Alerts you exactly when Level 3 is lost. No early warning buffer. |
| 16–18 Boosts | Recommended. Alerts you when your buffer is depleted, giving you time to buy new boosts before dropping below 14. |
What to do after an alert
When you receive a drop alert from Guard, your Custom Invite Link may be at risk. Follow these steps:
- Check your server's current Boost count in Server Settings → Server Boost Status.
- If you are below 14 Boosts, Discord begins a 3-day (72 hour) grace period.
- Restore the missing Boosts within this grace period.
- Watch for the green recovery notice from Guard confirming your vanity URL is safe.
Warning: Keep 14 Boosts allocated specifically to Level 3. Boosts assigned to Additional Perks (like Server Tags) do not count toward your Level 3 requirement.
Security & Privacy
Ironstone Guard operates entirely on public Discord API endpoints. It is 100% non-intrusive and safe.
- No admin permissions: Guard only needs to read and send messages in your admin channel.
- Invisible to members: Guard does not interact with your community, log chat messages, or monitor users.
- No account access: We never ask for your server ownership token or user account details.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Guard.
Can Guard restore my vanity URL?
No. Guard is a monitoring tool — it alerts you when boosts drop so you have time to act. It cannot purchase boosts or restore URLs on your behalf.
What threshold should I set?
We recommend 16–18 boosts. This gives you a safety buffer above the Level 3 requirement of 14, so you're warned before it's too late.
What permissions does Guard need?
Only basic read and send message permissions in a single staff channel. No admin access, no message logging, no user data collection.
How fast are the alerts?
Guard monitors continuously and sends alerts within seconds of detecting a change in your server's boost count.
