Complete Snapshots

One command captures your channels, categories, roles, permissions, emojis, and up to 50 messages per channel.

Kept Forever

Backups never expire. List, inspect, or delete them anytime with /backup list, /backup info, and /backup delete.

Selective Restore

Loading a backup isn't all-or-nothing — choose exactly which roles, channels, and settings come back.

What you can do with Vault

Recover from a raid

If someone deletes your channels or roles, load your last backup and the structure comes back the way it was.

Clone a server

Create a backup on one server and load it on another — a fast way to spin up a second community with the same layout.

Move to a new server

Discord won't let you transfer a server between communities. A backup is the practical substitute.

Keep a known-good state

Save a backup before a big restructure or a risky permissions change, so there's always something to fall back to.

Capture your entire server in one command

Run /backup create and Vault reads your server's structure and saves it under a single ID — ready to inspect or restore whenever you need it. Nothing that happens afterward changes what was saved.

  • Channels, categories, and permission overwrites
  • Server settings, icon, and verification level
  • Roles, colors, and permissions
  • Custom emojis and up to 50 messages per channel
> /backup create name: pre-migration
  reading roles, channels, emojis…
  capturing up to 50 messages / channel…
  ✓ saved as SJ9VHLUOKR02
  ✓ stored until: forever

Restore exactly what you need

Loading a backup opens a menu instead of firing blind. Pick which parts come back before anything changes on your server.

  • Wipe first, or merge with what's already there
  • Load onto the same server, or any server you administrate
  • Confirm before anything is deleted or rebuilt

Three commands, start to finish

01

Add Vault

Invite the bot with Administrator permission so it can read and rebuild your server structure.

02

Run /backup create

Your whole server — channels, roles, settings, emojis, and recent messages — is captured in seconds.

03

Run /backup load

Rebuild the same server, or paste the backup ID into a brand new one to clone it.

Setup & Configuration

Setting up Vault takes less than a minute. Everything is handled via native Discord slash commands.

  1. Invite the bot: Add Ironstone Vault to your server. It requests Administrator permission so it can read and recreate roles, channels, and permission overwrites.
  2. Create a backup: Use /backup create name:<name> to save the current state.
  3. Check what was saved: Use /backup info id:<id> to see channel, role, emoji, and message counts.
  4. Restore it: Use /backup load id:<id> and choose what to bring back from the menu.

List every backup with /backup list, or remove one permanently with /backup delete id:<id>.

Commands

Everything Vault does lives under the /backup slash command.

CommandWhat it does
/backup create name:<name>Save the current state of the server.
/backup listShow the backups on your account.
/backup info id:<id>View channel, role, emoji, and message counts for a backup.
/backup load id:<id>Restore a backup onto this server, with a menu to choose what comes back.
/backup delete id:<id>Remove a backup you no longer need.

What's included in a backup

A single /backup create captures the categories below into one JSON snapshot, stored on your Discord account.

CategoryWhat gets saved
Server SettingsIcon, name, verification level.
StructureCategories, text/voice channels, topics.
Roles & PermsRole colors, permissions, and channel overwrites.
MessagesUp to 50 messages per channel, plus all custom emojis.

Security & Privacy

Ironstone Vault operates entirely on public Discord bot API endpoints — there's no external server, and no data leaves Discord's ecosystem.

  • Requires Administrator: rebuilding roles, channel permissions, and server settings isn't possible without it — Vault never uses that access for anything beyond backup and restore.
  • Command-gated: only members with Administrator can run /backup commands in the first place.
  • No account access: we never ask for your login, token, or personal Discord account details — only server data you explicitly back up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Vault.

What does a backup include?

Server settings, icon, and verification level; every channel and category with permission overwrites; all roles and colors; custom emojis; and up to 50 messages per channel.

Can I load a backup onto a different server?

Yes. Backups aren't tied to one server — run /backup create in Server A, then /backup load id:<id> in Server B to clone it.

What permissions does Vault need?

Administrator. Rebuilding roles, channel permissions, and server settings isn't possible without it, and only Administrators can run /backup commands in the first place.

Does loading a backup wipe my server first?

By default, yes — the restore menu deletes existing roles and channels before rebuilding. Turn those two options off if you'd rather merge instead of wipe.
